EnviroSolutions. Inc. Announces It Is Doing Its Part to Keep E-Waste Out Of Landfills

MANASSAS, Va. (PRWEB) May 02, 2013

From a consumers standpoint, technology evolves at what seems to be the speed of light. Yesterdays newest handheld device is tomorrows outdated electronic waste. On average, laptops are designed to last between three and five years. Cell phones, and by extension their accessories, are lucky to last two years before being traded in or disposed of for a shiny new upgrade.

In an April 22 article published on CBSNews.com, “E-Waste: What Happens With Your Outdated or Broken Gadgets,” the daunting question of what happens to these outdated gadgets is raised. This issue, of course, has been on the minds of environmentalists for years. After all, estimates reveal Americans alone produce in excess of 50 million tons of e-waste annually. That figure is certain to increase with each passing year. So where does it all go?

A large majority, approximately 75 percent according to the article, of electronic waste makes its way into landfills or is incinerated. Both of these methods of disposal can be dangerous considering e-waste often contains cadmium, mercury and lead.

EnviroSolutions, Inc. is committed to keeping electronic materials out of landfills by offering waste collection services for any electronic devices and hauling services so they can reach the right recycling center. We do everything we can to reduce the impact of e-waste at our facilities, says Gary Hewes, Vice President of Operations at EnviroSolutions, Inc.

Electronic waste entails an assortment of items including televisions, scanners, copy machines, monitors, computers, laptops, cell phones and the miscellaneous chords and chargers often associated with these devices.

While EnviroSolutions, Inc. encourages consumers to properly dispose of electronic waste via recycling, it is equally important to remember e-waste is often another mans treasure. For example, most cell phone and data service providers offer electronic device recycle programs in which their clients can earn a gift card or store credit when returning devices no longer in use. An outdated iPhone 4 (and its outdated accessories) may not seem valuable to its owner who recently upgraded to the iPhone 5, but it still contains a lot of worth. This reasoning holds true for handheld devices that appear damaged (cracked screen, bad battery). With a small amount of care, devices headed to the landfill can often be repaired or dismantled and used for parts.

About EnviroSolutions, Inc.

For over a decade, EnviroSolutions has been providing waste collection, disposal and recycling services in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States. With a targeted focus on customer service and safety, as well as a commitment to the environmental health and the communities of the areas they serve, EnviroSolutions provides complete waste service to the regions they serve including trash hauling, landfill services, and recycling services. Relationship Vo-Tech

This week, we wanted to explore the concept of Staying. Staying as in not moving, not making a big change, keeping things more or less as they are. We live in a culture that’s pushing us to always make a big change, to always move forward, and do the next big thing. And the truth is, that’s not always possible (or even advisable). And in this particular economy, we can’t always move on to grand things. Sometimes the next step is a tiny one: It’s learning to be happy with what we have, or making one small change. So it seemed perfect to start this week with a topic that has come up over and over on APW: waiting for the engagement. And in this post, M. has decided that she’s fine with what she has. No ultimatums, no waiting—just being together and being happy. And it turns out, this post about non-engagement might be the most important post on engagement that we’ve ever run.

I’m not planning a wedding. Not even close.φορεματα

Two years ago, a few months after my boyfriend Bo and I started dating, we went to a wedding together. It was the kind of wedding where, along with all the bride and groom’s invited guests, their whole church congregation was asked to come, and the reception was just champagne and cake in the church basement. It was beautiful, and we loved how inclusive it was, but we both said that if either of us had a wedding, it wouldn’t be like that. (Good—I thought—even though he says he doesn’t think he’ll ever get married, he’s thinking about it. It’s only a matter of time.)

Then, that fall, another wedding—this time for friends of mine from college. A very beautiful, traditional Jewish wedding—one where the bride and groom couldn’t stop grinning out of sheer happiness. We shared their joy, but again, we said, were either of us to get married, it would be different. (Well, he’s still saying “If I ever have a wedding,” not “If we ever have a wedding,” but if he’s got opinions, that’s got to be good, right?)

Last summer, we went to the wedding of one of Bo’s cousins, and it was flashy, pink, and ostentatious. (There were professional fireworks! it was held in a place called “The Palace”!) We laughed and laughed—it fit his cousin perfectly—but there would never be any fireworks for us!

And by then I had realized that there really weren’t going to be any wedding fireworks for us. Because we’d probably never get married.

We’ve made as strong a commitment to be with one another as two non-married people can make, but my boyfriend grew up in a family led by two people in a toxic, codependent marriage—the kind of family where the kids want their parents to get divorced because then maybe things might eventually be bearable. And that has poisoned marriage for him in a profound way.

This is usually the place in a story like this where people have one of two reactions, both of which grow out of stereotypes of men not caring about relationships and marriage as much as women do. Either (as my mother does) they insist that he’ll “grow out of it eventually,” come to his senses, and propose. Or, (as my sister does) they imply that his not wanting to marry shows that he doesn’t love me, not really, and it will all fall apart. At the beginning of our relationship, I wanted to believe the first one and secretly feared that the second was true.

To borrow a word from emeritus staff member Alyssa, however, gallakjoler

Plus size dresses those ideas are horseshit.

I don’t doubt that there are men whose lives have followed those storylines. But however simple they may seem from the outside, every one of those situations was unique, with two individuals and their specific relationship. I know my partner, how he loves me, how he appreciates what I do for him, how he balances my faults and I balance his, how he calls me “wonderful, brilliant, and capable,” and I know he could never be shoehorned into those simplistic arcs. Even if he does eventually marry me, or we eventually break up, it doesn’t mean that those were always the only two options.

To be at the point where your relationship stops playing by the rulebook that says “either you get married or you quit” is disorienting. One of the nice things about assuming one will eventually get married is that (as APW illustrates well) weddings can be a crucible that helps forge a couple into a lasting partnership. Looking back on the two years when my sister and her husband were planning their wedding, I can see that the hurdles they jumped together then are the same ones they navigate with such skill now: money, family relationships, learning when to defer to the other and when to stand their ground. Those issues are just as important for Bo and me to get through, but we have to cover them piecemeal, as they come up, and since the stakes of the individual incidents of daily life are often lower than those of a major life event like a wedding, we have to make sure that the hard conversations actually happen rather than letting something slide that we really care about because “Oh well, it’s just this one time…”

That’s certainly doable, though, and it turns out that making sure those conversations happen (instead of just waiting for them to happen when you’re hashing out a guest list or a wedding budget) is a really good way to strengthen a relationship. What’s been unexpectedly painful for me is this: in recognizing I might never get married, I’ve had to grieve for the wedding I’ll never have. No bouquet of peonies. No photos of the day to look at and celebrate for the rest of our lives. No matching silverware unless one of us buys the whole set.

That last one might sound silly. But admitting to myself that it’s okay that no one’s going to give me a set of china may be one of the most important things I ever do. By letting go of the things I’ve always assumed will happen in my life, I can open my eyes to the other possibilities I’d never even seen because I wasn’t looking in that direction. And I’m learning that I can be happy with a partner, when I thought I would only ever really be happy with a husband.

Using the language of APW,abendkleider

hääpuvut I’m neither a Wedding Undergraduate, nor a Wedding Graduate—whereas those women have gone to Wedding University, I’m going through Relationship Vo-Tech. And I’m okay. It’s okay that when I read APW, the posts that speak most to my life are the ones about building a marriage, even though I’m on a different track—one that means I haven’t had any need to look at the ones about dresses or guest lists first. And it’s okay if you’re that way, too.

Sponsored Post Shop Joielle Bridesmaid Dresses

Today we get to talk about beautiful bridesmaid dresses, and how I’m so envious of all of you ladies currently planning your wedding, because you get the opportunity to use the tasteful, easily sortable, generally awesome shop Joielle website… and I didn’t have that chance.

Because let’s put our cards on the table.festklänningar
Plus size clothing Shopping for bridesmaid dresses is often a huge pain. 90% of them are atrocious, dealing with wedding salons is a total pain, and you want to get dresses that look good on all your ladies, not just matching nonsense in cheap fabric. Well, enter shop Joielle, which was founded by two friends since childhood, who are now solving your problems like magic.

When I first looked at shop Joielle I was stunned and delighted. Bridesmaids dresses so pretty that I would wear every single one? A site where you could sort bridesmaid dresses by color, fabric, and style? Price points between $100 – $250 for high quality dresses that I wanted to make out with? WHAT? Bridesmaid’s dresses that I would be happy to wear again, at the same prices I’d pay for the-bridesmaid-dresses-that-shall-not-be-named? What was this wonderland?

But it actually gets a little better than that.Quinceanera Dresses

My number one recommendation for finding affordable wedding dresses is to get bridesmaid dresses in white, and that little number above? Ladies, that’s $180 dollars. Not to mention this beautiful number – which someone better send me a picture of them wearing for an afternoon wedding or an elopement ($230), or this sassy flamenco madness ($145). Which means I think you should be shopping at Joielle for your wedding dresses, right this second.

Now add in the fact that they offer plus sizes? And they offer 10% off for parties of four or more? And they’ll make sure all of your bridesmaids dresses are from the same dye-lot, even if your ladies are all over the country? Well, it’s your lucky day.

So send your ladies this link, and get shopping.trouwjurken
Hääpuvut Maybe you’re having bridesmaids, or maybe you’re having a more informal bridal brigade. Maybe all your ladies are matching, or maybe you want them stylishly mismatched. No matter what the plan is, having one online store with a welter of lovely, high quality dresses? That makes your life better.

Nike Blazers Black / Metallic Silver

The cheap air max 95 has really earned some good deal of praise from the fans who are in favor of its looks. The shoe will be predominantly white but will have ample accents of midnight blue and also minimum accents of black. This shoe has patent leather combined with suede for the construction of its uppers. There are significant parts in the pair that are embossed and it has an ostrich leg. It is made available in two colors of black and cork. We personally love the cork but the black one is as elegant and both are perfect for any pair of jeans. This is
really perfect for the upcoming winter season. Some shoes that were once seen as perfectly good options for wearing on the basketball court would never be considered for that purpose today, instead thought of only as a casual wear shoe.It utilizes some black patent leather that appears on the sneaker’s toe. Fans should be happy to know that these shoes are now available at at stores with a Nike account so you should have no problem scooping up a pair of your very own.Don’t hesitate, get out there and get your cheap air max 95 uk now.

New Survey: Despite Rising College Costs, Most Families Arent Aware of Options to Save

Tiffin, Ohio (PRWEB) May 08, 2013

As rising college costs continue to plague students and families across the U.S., a new survey released this week shows that parents are more likely to consider making sacrifices at home such as putting off retirement or cutting back on dinners out, instead of exploring ways to save on the cost of college itself. The survey, sponsored by Ivy Bridge College of Tiffin University, an online college that helps students create a cost-effective plan for their college education, included responses from nearly 900 parents who had a student planning to enter college in 2013 or 2014.

An overwhelming 90 percent of parents said that the overall process of planning and paying for college was stressful on the entire family, while 87 percent said that cost affected which school their student decided to attend. Parents funding more than one college education were especially impacted by rising tuition and many felt forced to reevaluate their finances30 percent planned to cut back on extras, like vacations and eating out at restaurants, and almost 20 percent admitted to delaying retirement. Families were also considering other ways to pay for their students’ education:

72 percent were willing to co-sign on their child’s student loans
29 percent of parents expected their student to cover more than a quarter of annual college costs
Almost 30 percent would consider having their student live at home to reduce total costs

Despite the cited importance of cost in decision-making, most parents answered that they were planning to cut back on family expenses to find ways to save, while fewer were exploring ways to actually reduce the cost of their students education.

Only 17 percent would recommend their student take summer courses to graduate earlier
34 percent considered having their student attend a two-year community or online college then transferring
10 percent hadnt considered any options to reduce the cost of their students degree at all

I was surprised to see so many parents planning to make major sacrifices, even delaying retirement, before thinking about other options that could actually reduce the cost of their childs college education and future debts from student loans, said Jennifer Ruggiero, a college admissions and career counselor at Ivy Bridge College. After hearing what families are saying, it seems like many just stick with what they know, tightening budgets, rather than examining the options that have the potential to make college more affordable.

One reason parents may not be aware of all their options is that theyre not talking with counselors or advisors about rising college costs, and instead are seeking answers from their own network. When asked what resource they found most helpful when making critical decisions about choosing and paying for college, 28 percent answered friends and family and 31 percent said the internet and books. Only 21 percent mentioned talking to a school counselor.

Its great to do research on your own and I always consult my friends and family on important decisions, said Ruggiero. But Id hate for families to miss out on opportunities because they dismissed an idea before looking into it more. Thats how counselors can help. Attending a two-year school or taking extra courses over the summer may call for more planning and foresight, but these kinds of options can dramatically reduce the cost of a students overall degree program. In the case of transferring, students can sometimes reduce their costs as much as $ 64,000.00 depending on their end school.

And she should know. At Ivy Bridge College, the institution that sponsored the survey, counselors like Ruggiero help students explore ways to save on their overall education by outlining a plan for two- to four-year college transfer. As part of its services, the online college offers a robust college mentoring program through success coaching and counseling that helps students create a path for their education that works with their financial situation and degree and career goals.

When advising on how to create a successful plan for college, Ivy Bridge experts like Ruggiero recommend that parents and students consider the following:

Transfer Options and Partners

Choosing to start at a two-year college then transferring to finish a bachelors is a time-honored way to save on the total cost of a college degree. But what many parents and students dont know is that almost every school, even top-tier programs, have established relationships with two-year community and online colleges that make it easier for students to transfer from one school to the next. Students who know they want their end degree to come from a specific institution should always check the schools website or talk to the counseling office to see if there are transfer partners either in the area or online. Many schools even offer dual-admission 2+2 programs where students fill out one application and enroll in both schools at the same time. Transferring is also a great option for students whose grades or SAT scores may be just below the requirements for the school theyre interested in. By attending a two-year program first, they have a chance to bring up their grades and are more likely to be accepted as a transfer student than as an undergraduate.

Class Size and Availability

College enrollment in the U.S. is at an all-time high and many colleges are taking on more students than ever before. As a result, classes (and especially the general education courses students take their freshman and sophomore year) may become overcrowded and even unavailable. This can cause and increase in tuition for students who are forced to take courses that dont work towards their degree in order to stay full-time and receive financial aid. Additionally, students who need to meet popular prerequisites and requirements before they can move forward with their program may find themselves having to pay tuition for extra terms in order to get the course they need to graduate within four years. By checking out a schools class sizes and looking at whether or not there are waitlists for popular courses, parents and students can get a better idea of whether or not theyll be affected by overcrowding.

Online Courses and Blended Options

Online education has come a long way in a short period of time and now nearly every institution, including larger state schools and private institutions, offer classes and entire degree programs online. Online courses generally cost less than their in-person counterparts and can provide opportunities for students to save by living at home, eliminating commuting costs, and working as they pursue a degree. Online courses may also provide more options for students to get into popular courses and can make it easier to take more classes per term and speed the path to a degree. Options vary from school to school, so when considering a four-year or community college program its good to see whether online courses are available and if theres a cost difference. If students are considering a fully online college like Ivy Bridge, it’s important to make sure they talk to the admissions department to ensure that the online learning environment and course schedule will work for them. Theres a myth that online learning is easier than taking courses in person, but online programs are just as rigorous as in-person courses and there are still deadlines for assignments and tests students need to be prepared to meet.

Options like taking courses online or creating a plan for transfer arent for everyone, explained Ruggiero. But neither is putting off retirement, taking on a second job, or cancelling vacations. Families and students have a lot more choices to make college more affordable than they think.
